And yet the Lib Dems seem happy to jump into a coalition with them.

Be warned Lynne - that is your majority gone in a stroke if you jump into bed with a failed, discredited, manipulative Labour Party.

Come the election I will be waiting.

I am sitting here on a Tuesday morning not quiet sure what happened over the past three days - it just feels like a complete blur.

Hustings, canvassing, leafleting for Britain, more canvassing and yet more canvassing.

I have been out and about in every ward across the constituency and knocked on so many doors, met so many supportive people and many saying the same thing.

“This is about the national picture so we are clear we are voting against Labour and that means we have voted for you/are voting for you.”

Some vivid memories will stay with me such as the heart rendering stories of carers at the hustings on Friday, the shear number of people who attended what was the most exciting hustings so far - at St James’s in Muswell Hill - and the demand for posters across the area.

And now I hear that Labour has done my work for me - a stinging attack on the Lib Dems in their latest leaflet. It was long overdue coming. The Libs have so far always been able to avoid proper policy scrutiny - not any more.

So the Lynne Dems here in Hornsey can no longer hide behind being ‘nice’ and ‘local’, they could be part of the next government and that means that people are taking a long hard look at their policies.

From Alexandra to Noel Park, from Highgate to Hornsey people now know that this is a national election and not one for the control of the Civic Centre. And that does not bode well for the Lynne Dems or Labour.

It was in every way an episode of the cult TV hit ‘In The Thick of It’ today.

Two hustings are taking place today against the background of Brown and his fated trip to Rochdale.

By the time I leave the house to go to Highgate Wood school the news has broken about his ‘bigoted’ comment.

Tough and totally biased questions at Highgate Wood, which was made even tougher as my voice is struggling. However my priority is tonight at the Ham and High hustings.

Twitter has exploded with the latest updates on Brown as I drive home to prepare and I get home to see the sight of Brown scurrying around streets in Rochdale.

This is the day he looses not only that seat but a wave of Lancastrian towns.

Tonight we were ‘graced’ by the presence of the entire Hornsey Labour Party braying for blood. Their candidate has been shockingly bad at every single hustings. But Labour must think I am dumb if they did not know I was aware they had minders at the last hustings, watching both the Lib Dem and I at every stage.

It is clear she has packed the room, even Claire Kober Labour Leader of Haringey puts in an appearance.

It is obvious Karen has been coached, questions were planted and Labour stooges are in the room. And who were they really after - not me - the Lib Dem!

Why? All they wanted was Lynne to admit she would work with us in a coalition. All I wanted was for her to admit she would work with Labour.

This question will carry on for the next week and it is going to dominate this election.

What saddened me was the fact that no questions were asked about the economy, the deficit, education, jobs. Only two local questions were raised.

Sadly the room was simply packed with people who had decided which way they vote anyway. What a waste of time and energy.

Being woken up with the words - ‘there is a great piece in The Independent on you and Hornsey’ is not something that often jumps to mind. But that is today.

There is a really well thought through and intelligent piece in The Independent today and I am really delighted about being described as ‘the future of the Tory party.’

Back to reality though as a canvassing team appears and off we go to Muswell Hill, the so-called bastion of Lib Dem voters.

There is now real and vocal concern on the doorstep about a possible hung parliament and which way the Lib Dems will go if that happens.

Having removed Labour in Hornsey the last thing they want to see is a propped up Brown supported by the Lib Dems.

Another day of running round with posters and leaflets is taking its toll. I am loosing my voice and I am not happy about it as I have two hustings tomorrow and I am determined to repeat the successes of previous ones.

I receive a series of emails from people who attended Monday night backing me describing me in one as ‘the ideal intelligent constituency MP’. Throat is killing me but this has at least put a smile on my face.

Today was always going to be a bit stressful as I have the Friends of the Earth, Highgate Pensioners Group and climate change group hustings at the Royal british Legion in Muswell Hill.

Still I have work to do and I am off out canvassing in Hornsey ward and despite finding alot of people out we are received warmly. I have said all along this is a three way fight and that is exactly the outcome of two hours canvassing in the area.

Back home I am musing about the hustings. I cannot help think that this is going to be the toughest so far. A hornets nest of good old fashioned hairy left wingers is not my idea of a great night out.

But I was staggered - was I really the only candidate that knew their carbon footprint? Was I the only candidate who knew how he had reduced it over the period of a year? Well yes.

With Labour being mauled, Cllr Featherstone reading from a script and the wonderful Pete continuing his existence in lala land, this turned out to be a very interesting evening.

And yet what happened? Yet again - and to the fury of the audience - The sitting MP left early as she had to do a TV appearence.

I am getting sick of this as this has happened at every single hustings - it is rude, arrogant and completely complacent.

Despite the rain we managed to complete the delivery of our latest newsletter in Bounds Green. Never felt so wet but still it has been done.

We will continue to canvass the ward over the next ten days. Received a tweet last night from a Lib Dem supporter imploring me to stop campaigning in the area as he felt he had a great MP. Sorry to say that is the decision of the electorate and whether they feel they have a great MP.

Off into Alexandra Ward in the afternoon and conducted a five hour canvassing session. Managed to talk to hundreds of residents.

I promised I would try and get round every door when I was selected. I am doing it street by street.

But what is going on with the voting. It is going all over the place. But despite that I am still seeing the same close three way fight taking place across Hornsey & Wood Green with Labour firmly in third place.

That is probably why the Lib Dems are drowning the area in paper saying ‘the Conservatives cannot win here’. This message is getting more and more hysterical. You bet it is - the tactically voting Conservatives have deserted the Lib Dems and Labour voters are out to punish Brown and coming over to us.

I am of the same impression. This so-called Lib Dem bounce is not really visible in Hornsey.

We saw a major swing to us in Highgate last week as the reality of a hung parliament became clear and in fact today on Myddleton Road in Bounds Green Lynne was asked which party would she feel happy with working with in a hung parliament?

Too right - and that is what we are going to focus on from now on in. Feeling the pinch on this Lynne - well the message from me is Vote Yellow - Get Brown.

We all know there is no way you would work with the Conservatives.

Spent the entire day in Noel Park and wondering where on earth the opposition was. Still given the response we had on the door no wonder Labour was nowhere to be seen.

Wow it is not that often that I get up at this time (6am) to go out solely with the intention of leafleting. Still we are throwing alot of time at Bounds Green and we are seeing some very positive results there especially given our local government candidates are so well known.

Commerce Road estate successfully delivered and in record time - love leafleting in the tower blocks as they are fast and easy to do.

Friday afternoon I was out and about in Alexandra Ward canvassing the views of local residents and then off to Woodside for a three hour canvassing session there.

And in case that was not enough I ended the day outside Wood Green tube station leafleting with our candidates for both Woodside and Noel Park.

Grief I am beginning to get a great tan in this weather.

And the main focus - getting posters out to supporters. It is a funny old game this poster thing. Conservatives are always the coyest when it comes to poster sites.

Lib Dems have always played the poster game - get em up and intimidate the rest with that old line of ‘Winning here’.

Although this time there is one interesting correlation - Lib Dem voters put up posters, others do not. So if you think there are alot of LDs around think again - that is the core vote as it is all on display.

Undertook a major telephone canvass in Crouch End for the first time in many years and one thing came out loud and clear. This is now a battle between Lynne and I.
