The Conservative Party is a large and complex organisation, representing and involving people with a diverse range of backgrounds, interests and concerns. It is a broad church, which encourages open debate and accepts differences of opinion.

What unites the Party are the core Conservative principals which provide our foundation.

  • Freedom
Conservatives believe in less interference from the State - freedom for individuals, families, voluntary groups and businesses.
  • Enterprise
Conservative want to keep taxes low and set businesses free from red tape to help Britain compete in the global economy.
  • Responsibility
Conservatives stand for the rule of law and support for all members of our society. We recognise our duty to protect the environment for future generations.
  • Nation
Conservatives want to safeguard the Union of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, maintain strong defence and uphold our right to national self-government. We want to be in Europe but not run by Europe.

Today the Hornsey and Wood Green Conservative Association is a vibrant and active organisation with upwards of 350 members many of whom are active in the local area and also find the time to leaflet and canvass the area.

Working towards the goal of having, motivated and hard working Conservative councillors in Hornsey & Wood Green so that we can make the area more pleasant for all local residents.

The constituency

Hornsey and Wood Green covers the western side of the London Borough of Haringey, including Wood Green, Muswell Hill and Crouch End.

Over the forthcoming months in the build up to the General election you will hear a lot from the Lib Dems about how they are the only party that can defeat Labour in Hornsey and Wood Green.

Over the past 15 years all three political parties have represented the area:

Member of Parliament

2005 - present: Lynne Featherstone, Liberal Democrats
1992 - 2005: Barbara Roche, Labour Party
1966 - 1992: Sir Hugh Rossi, Conservative Party
1957 - 1966: Lady Gammans, Conservative Party
1941 - 1957: Sir David Gammans, Conservative Party

Time is running out for this discredited Labour Government. The Lib Dems will have you think we cannot win here but the only way we are ever going to get a Conservative Government is to vote Conservative.

The Lib Dems will fight this area as if it is for control of Haringey Council - it is not - it is about the future direction of the country and lets face facts the Lib Dems have not won a General Election since 1922.

Vote for a Conservative MP to get a Conservative Government.
