What a weekend
I am sitting here on a Tuesday morning not quiet sure what happened over the past three days - it just feels like a complete blur.
Hustings, canvassing, leafleting for Britain, more canvassing and yet more canvassing.
I have been out and about in every ward across the constituency and knocked on so many doors, met so many supportive people and many saying the same thing.
“This is about the national picture so we are clear we are voting against Labour and that means we have voted for you/are voting for you.”
Some vivid memories will stay with me such as the heart rendering stories of carers at the hustings on Friday, the shear number of people who attended what was the most exciting hustings so far - at St James’s in Muswell Hill - and the demand for posters across the area.
And now I hear that Labour has done my work for me - a stinging attack on the Lib Dems in their latest leaflet. It was long overdue coming. The Libs have so far always been able to avoid proper policy scrutiny - not any more.
So the Lynne Dems here in Hornsey can no longer hide behind being ‘nice’ and ‘local’, they could be part of the next government and that means that people are taking a long hard look at their policies.
From Alexandra to Noel Park, from Highgate to Hornsey people now know that this is a national election and not one for the control of the Civic Centre. And that does not bode well for the Lynne Dems or Labour.
