In the thick of it
It was in every way an episode of the cult TV hit ‘In The Thick of It’ today.
Two hustings are taking place today against the background of Brown and his fated trip to Rochdale.
By the time I leave the house to go to Highgate Wood school the news has broken about his ‘bigoted’ comment.
Tough and totally biased questions at Highgate Wood, which was made even tougher as my voice is struggling. However my priority is tonight at the Ham and High hustings.
Twitter has exploded with the latest updates on Brown as I drive home to prepare and I get home to see the sight of Brown scurrying around streets in Rochdale.
This is the day he looses not only that seat but a wave of Lancastrian towns.
Tonight we were ‘graced’ by the presence of the entire Hornsey Labour Party braying for blood. Their candidate has been shockingly bad at every single hustings. But Labour must think I am dumb if they did not know I was aware they had minders at the last hustings, watching both the Lib Dem and I at every stage.
It is clear she has packed the room, even Claire Kober Labour Leader of Haringey puts in an appearance.
It is obvious Karen has been coached, questions were planted and Labour stooges are in the room. And who were they really after - not me - the Lib Dem!
Why? All they wanted was Lynne to admit she would work with us in a coalition. All I wanted was for her to admit she would work with Labour.
This question will carry on for the next week and it is going to dominate this election.
What saddened me was the fact that no questions were asked about the economy, the deficit, education, jobs. Only two local questions were raised.
Sadly the room was simply packed with people who had decided which way they vote anyway. What a waste of time and energy.
