BERWICK Labour Party has selected Alan Strickland as their prospective parliamentary candidate for the next General Election.

Brought up in County Durham, Alan has been very active in the north east, previously working for an education charity in schools in Northumberland and Durham and running a small training company to develop skills in voluntary sector organisations.

He said: “It’s a real privilege to have this opportunity to campaign on the issues that matter to people here in Berwick. I know the constituency well and am looking forward to getting out and about to discuss with people how we can work together to fulfil the ambitions they have for themselves, their families and the constituency as a whole.”

Sir Alistair Graham, chairman of Berwick constituency Labour Party, added: Berwick Labour Party is delighted to have attracted such a high calibre young candidate who has strong roots in the north east and who has the intellectual calibre to become a top flight politician. He will give Alan Beith a serious contest at the next General Election.”

So will he be fighting for the good folk of Noel Park or Berwick on the English border with Scotland?
